The Chevalier de Saint-George was a celebrated composer in pre-revolutionary Paris, and famous as a swordsman. Born in Guadaloupe, he is one of very few black composers known from the Classical era. Hear the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra’s performance of his Symphony No. 2, recorded in their homes, and with an introduction by the musicians and music director, Dr. Reuben Blundell.
